Description

In 2019, at a concert presented by the non-profit organization Arts Capacity (which brings professional musicians into prisons), an improvisation session led by prison inmates yielded this piano trio. The title highlights a moment that was shared by one of the inmates in which he had come to the end of a visitation period with his daughter out in the prison yard. As he said his goodbyes to his daughter she released a balloon into the air, and all of the inmates and their visiting families watched as it disappeared into the sky. This piece was premiered at a subsequent Arts Capacity concert in the same prison in 2022. Duration: 6 minutes.
